Egypt's Lesser Known Gem: Edfu Temple

Everyone’s heard of the Great Pyramids of Egypt and perhaps a couple of other temples, but Edfu Temple isn’t something you often learn about. Located in Aswan, Edfu Temple is a beautifully preserved archeological site that you can actually walk through and explore in its full glory. Compared to many of Egypt’s other sites, Edfu is surprisingly “new,” only being completed in 57 BC. But that doesn’t make it any less glorious to behold. You can walk through the passages of the temple and view ancient hieroglyphics that give you a small view into the world the Egyptians inhabited. It’s worth a stop on any Egypt itinerary.
